🐚 History of Ammonite

🦑 What Is Ammonite?

Ammonites were extinct marine mollusks (similar to the modern-day nautilus) that lived around 240–65 million years ago, during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras.

Their fossilized shells are commonly found in sedimentary rock, often in a spiral shape and occasionally opalized into beautiful iridescent colors (called Ammolite).

📜 Name Origin

The name comes from the Egyptian god Ammon (or Amun), who was often depicted with ram’s horns. Ancient people saw a resemblance between ammonite fossils and coiled ram horns, calling them “Ammon’s Stones.”
